Help! Apps won't play audio on my MK6

Modified on Tue, 01 Nov 2022 at 05:02 PM

Don't worry, you're not alone.  This is the most commonly-reported issue.

1) These units send audio through the car's speakers via the factory stereo's AUX channel.  To make sure your car is playing the AUX source, click the physical MUSIC button on the screen (its at the bottom), and select AUX from the source list.  Now press home and return to your music app, and the music should start playing.  Make sure the volume is up too.

2) If this doesnt work, its probably an issue with the connections to the screen.  Sometimes it seems like they're plugged in, but they're really not.  Each plug should make an audible click which confirms it's properly plugged in.  Please review my installation video (below).

Double check all plugs, and pay special attention to:

  • the GREEN one - I'm pretty sure that's a main one that controls most of the communication with the car
  • the AUX plug which should plug into your armrest (at 11:37 marker)
